1. How do I change the language used in Ndrive?
By default, Ndrive is installed with English, Afrikaans and Zulu. You are able to download different language options from www.ndrive.com

2. Occasionally, the red dot locates me slightly off the road, while I am physically on the road.
This may occur due to one of the following:
The GPS signal is inaccurate The road information is accurate to with in 2 meters, but the location of the red dot is left flexible. This flexibility allows people to Navig8 down a side road that runs parallel to a main road. – i.e. Jan Smuts road coming from Hyde Park to Randburg. We can “snap” the red dot to fix to the road at all times but this will require us to have a 5 -10metre radius around the dot. In the case of Jan Smuts road you would not be able to navigate down the side road as the software will continuously snap the red dot back to the main road therefore not allowing you to take any of the turns on the side road

3. What is the difference between Vehicle profiles?
"Fast car" will calculate the times in the route itinerary according to the route segment distances and the maximum travel speed for the types of roads used. For example, for freeways, 120km/h will be used as the speed of the car. This, in conjunction with the distance of the freeway segment, will allow the program to calculate the travel time. "Slow car" uses a certain percentage of the maximum speed of the road type, thus simulating the reduced speed of a slow car. For example, on a 120km/h freeway segment, 100km/h will be used instead, and on a 100km/h road, 80km/h will be used. This is then used to calculate the travel time. "Pedestrian" uses a preset speed for a pedestrian, and is not limited by one-way roads. There is a 30km limit to the distance that can be calculated for a pedestrian. If the shortest route for a pedestrian exceeds 30km, it will not show as an option. "Bicycle" and "Motorcycle" uses preset speeds as well, but are limited by one-way roads (just like cars).
This will adjust as you start your trip and the ETA will be updated in accordance to your actual speed that you are traveling.

4. What is the difference between Optimisation settings
"Fastest Route" places the heaviest mathematical weight on the maximum travel speeds of the available road segments between the start point and the destination point. Thus, freeways and main roads will be used for the route, as they are the fastest to travel on. If you are in a hurry to get to your destination, or you prefer using freeways and main roads, choose this option. Note: this option will not necessarily deliver the shortest distance route. "Shortest Route" places the heaviest mathematical weight on the distances of the available road segments between the start point and the destination point. It does not take into consideration the travel speeds of the roads whatsoever. The absolute shortest distance will be calculated. If you want to use the shortest distance to your destination choose this option. Note: this option will not necessarily deliver the fastest route. "Pedestrian Mode" is for use when on foot, and allows movement on dedicated pedestrian paths, streets and allows movement against the traffic, whilst avoiding Highways. "Allow motorways" or "Avoid motorways" will allow or restrict the program in terms of using motorways (highways) in its route calculation.
Adventure Mode is a unique mode for Ndrive:
Land, sea or air. Reach your destination using Adventure Mode. Now you can even find your way off-road with Adventure Mode. This mode lets you venture off the beaten track, and makes sure that you'll always reach your destination, by land, sea or air.
You can also share your favourite off-road itineraries with the off-road community.

5. Even though I use
The Digi-Nav software calculates the fastest and the shortest route according route according to mathematical algorithms. It will not always take you on the highway as it may see this as a detour and a longer route to your destination. Digi-Nav does not take into account traffic conditions or the exceeding of speed limits

7. A road, shopping centre, petrol station, golf course etc that I am looking for is not shown as a POI in the Map Data set.
This can be caused by either of two factors: First, the place being searched for falls into a different suburb in the map set, please try broadening your search, i.e. instead of entering Atholl as the town enter the greater area Sandton
Secondly, due to the constantly changing nature of the South African roads, the updating of the map data is a continuous project. A dedicated team is on the road all day and is constantly updating changes to road names, POI’s and gathering new data. This will be added in future map upgrades.

8. I enter the address on my GPS device with a house number and it does not take me to the correct house.
The National Address Range is used when adding house numbers to the map database. The road is split into road segments. The “to” and “from” on the segment are determined i.e. the road segment is from 1 to 20, odds on right side and evens on left side. The road is then evenly populated with house numbers 1 – 19 evenly spaced on the right hand side of the road and 2 – 20 evenly spaced on the left hand side of the road.
Whilst every care is taken to provide an accurate map set we are continually checking and updating our information. Customer feedback is always appreciated.
